Renaturation Ecology
![]() |
Ecological renaturation is an important instrument of nature conservation in an effort to detain the loss of habitats, species and genetic diversity. Due to the large scale loss of biodiversity in today's agricultural landscapes, active ecological renaturation measures are an important extension to conservation. In these current research fields, renaturation ecology is the scientific discipline that bridges the gap between basic ecological research and practical nature conservation. Renaturation ecology draws on the methods and findings of ecology and aims to incorporate them into recommendations for the planning and implementation of applied nature conservation. In addition to method development, the work focuses on recording the effects of renaturation measures on the composition, function and structure of diversity in the landscape. |
